Today is February 10, 2015... it's my best friend's anniversary. It's also the anniversary of me being a complete and total idiot in front of people I really care about and love.... Let's just say that depression+being newly 21+access to a plethora of alcohol = complete and utter failure.
Luckily, like we talked about last week, we all make mistakes and we all get second chances... well, most of the time. The girl I embarrassed on this day 8 years ago never once thought about going out with me again (good for her), but my friend eventually talked to me again and even his wife (and her parents) were forgiving. They even let me come over to their house now!
In reality, I actually wound up being more mad at myself than anyone else was with me. But, it was a wake up call for me to stop doing some of the things I was doing. You don't want to lose your true friends. My friend called me a few days after the wedding and simply said to me, "Matt, you need help." He was right... now, I've moved on, and I am a better person for it, but this day still brings back some feelings I wish I could suppress.. but, that's not healthy..
I think I've said all of that just to give you an example of how sometimes we all get a second chance, you just have to make sure you take advantage of it.
