Everyone:

Friday I commented on the lack of dance skills displayed by our own Sammy the Saint in recent years. With all of the dance and reality shows on now, such as "Dancing with the Stars," "So You Think You Can Dance," and "Glee" (which I've never seen), you would think that at least one person on campus could get down in a manner that would make their mama proud. I have video evidence that suggests there are very few, maybe even just one, students at SMHS that have a future in dance. And, no, I'm not talking about the Twerking competition at lunch. Don't get me started on that garbage.  The goal of dancing is to make your mama proud, not shake what your mama gave you in a way that would make her turn in her grave.

So, you think you can dance, SMHS? I have video evidence that suggests otherwise. This also serves as the number two reason you, all of you, even the cheerleader who can dance, should embrace the Common Core.

Modern World History

• If you had to create 5 rules for your house to follow, what would they be? It can only be 5, not 4, or 7, or 19, just 5. (Write them!) Explain why you decided on those particular rules.

• Identify the intended audience, purpose, and speaker in an excerpt from the Exodus.
• Discuss the ramifications of the 10 commandments.

AP World History

Quick-write:

• Explain who makes and enforces the rules in the house you live in. Why does that person (whoever it is) get to do decide on the rules for everyone else?

• Understand the format and purpose of "DOING World History."
• Finalize your Newscast stories and begin writing/revising scripts.
