Everyone:
I know Boston just won the World Series. I know the Dodgers didn't even make it all the way to the World Series. Sadly, I know the Houston Astros finished with (another) 100+ loss season. You know what makes me even more sad than that, though? The fact that it's Halloween. I really, really, hate Halloween. Every year it seems like the same garbage. Lots of dead hookers, zombies, spiders, and bloody messes everywhere. I just don't get why every dude out there has to dress up like a pimp or something super scary, and every girl has to take whatever costume her grandma would approve of and make it into the hooker version.
Well, despite my hate of Halloween, and all things scary, I had kids. Two of them. They are fantastic little-people. They love everything and everyone. You know what they means? That means they love Halloween... yep, worst mistake ever. So, I'm faced with a dilemma, do I teach my kids to hate Halloween, just like I do, or do I allow them to participate in this Pagan ritual? Well, I guess I've done both. I've expressed my dislike of the holiday many times. I comment on the decorations and sabotage any attempt to decorate my house for this putrid holiday (Luckily my wife also dislikes Halloween). But, we still carve pumpkins and go Trick-or Treating. We even leave candy on the porch when we are gone, so kids can ruin their teeth when I'm not around. However, when kids come to the door and take some candy, they won't find a goblin, or some putrid creature carved into our pumpkin. No, instead they'll find an LA Dodgers symbol carved into a 36 pound pumpkin. Guess who carved it? Yep, me. Guess who likes the Dodgers? Nope, not me... I'm not sure if it's better or worse. Sure no scary stuff, but I really hate the Dodgers... However, I do love my kids very much. Happy Freaking Halloween.
