Everyone:
Perfect is something that is hard to be. In fact, it's almost impossible. You don't ever meet perfect people. One tiny mistake means you are not perfect. Yet, sometimes things go perfectly. Dates, classes, dances, dinners. Sometimes my coffee is perfect. Most of the time it's not. We spend so much time chasing perfection that we can sometimes damage ourselves because we are rarely ever able to achieve it. Well, last night, I got the chance to witness perfection. Several students in the SMJUHSD earned perfect scores on their CST or CAHSEE exams. It was way more than I expected. Who knew perfection was embodied by all types of people. From dreadlocks to mo-hawks, from the Warriors of ERHS to the Panthers of PVHS to the Saints of SMHS. I couldn't be more proud of these kids.
I also have to be happy that our district honored these kids the way they did. Some of these kids get made fun of for being socially awkward. I've seen it. Well, guess what. Most of the people who make fun of them aren't perfect. I'm not perfect, and these kids aren't perfect in all aspects of life either. Let's make sure to celebrate the accomplishments of others, and try to recognize when you are in the presence of perfection.
FYI, I'm not perfect. Look at this picture... I can't even tell what I was trying to do.... the SMHS kids were getting a standing ovation for their perfect scores. |
