Everyone:
ARRRRRRG! I think pirates are lame. Especially the stereotypical pirate, like the one below. Eyepatch, peg leg, sword, skull and crossbones, parrot, missing teeth. This guys is a hook-hand away from being everything kids are taught pirates truly are... even when they aren't. Truth is, pirates have come a long way from this.
In fact, now, pirates have traded in their swords for guns, improved their diet to combat tooth-loss, and dress like everyday people... well, kinda. Pirates are interesting, a little scary, and they are for real. Modern pirates raise some serious questions about our modern world. Such as, why are they present? What pushes people to become pirates, to risk their lives and take those of others? Who's job is it to stop them? What's the best plan of attack? The last question is the most difficult, and one that world leaders continue to work on and try to solve. The question might be best answered when looking at the first and second questions I posed.
On a lighter note, my daughter gouged my wife in the eye yesterday. Her eye is wicked-swollen, and, if not for the threat of infection, she'd look like pirate from the Caribbean. She wouldn't allow a picture of her to be posted, so you have to look at a coloring book picture instead. Still, though, pirates raise real questions and pose real threats about and to the world we live in.
