Everyone:

This is totally weird, I think.... I've always felt that, since most holidays are on a specific calendar day and date (Christmas is December 25, always, for example) that Thanksgiving should be the same. What day is that, you ask? Well, it's November 28. I don't know why. I'm a grown-up, I know when Thanksgiving is (It's the fourth Thursday of November, always), but for some reason Thanksgiving just feels right if it's on November 28. I decided to look around and see how often that happens. What follows is the number of years in between each occurrence of Thanksgiving falling on November 28... (6, 5, 6, 11. 6, 5, 6, 11, 6, 5, 6, 11, 6, 5, 6, 11) So, Thanksgiving won't be on the "right" day again until 2019... by that point, maybe I'll be over this feeling... probably not though. That's not how I roll.

On a more serious note, and no matter what day it's on, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Mostly because of the food. Seriously, though, it really is. It's the one holiday that, at least in my large, diverse, and ridiculous family, is centered around being together and nothing more. Just enjoying the company of my close friends and family, without the decorations of a birthday, or the added pressure of Christmas presents not sucking, or the pastel colors of Easter and the smell of rotten eggs not found for months at a time, is a truly special time, and one that I look forward to each year. I hope that you take the time to enjoy your family, no matter who that family is. You don't have to cook a turkey, or sit down with an "enemy" or anything else. I don't care if your entire family gets into the same bed and snuggles and watched "Bubble Guppies" and sings the songs (I'm not judging, I'm just saying), just enjoy it. Otherwise, one day, you'll wish you would have.
