So, this is way late and way way cool! Every week the New York Times Learning Blog posts a new picture and asks kids some, seemingly, simple questions about what's going on in the picture and what they see in the picture that gives them that impression. It's Common Core ready and it's awesome. I just found my warm-ups for each Monday for the foreseeable future.
