Everyone:
Sometimes we see things and they don't really mean anything to us. They are just there, they just happen, and we move on in our pretty little, self-contained world. On the other hand, sometimes we experience things, and we make them more important than they truly are. We try so hard to make it relate to us, that we miss the big picture. We're caught between not relating to things because it's too much work, and relating to everything because we want to feel a certain way. We want to say, that's just like me.

If you can't tell, I have a problem with both of the above stances. We (you and I) are have similarities and differences. Not everything that has happened to me has happened to you. Even if both of our parents went through a divorce, it doesn't mean that we both came out of it with the same scars. Some of us would never admit to those scars, others want the world to know about them.

So, what do we do? I think we need to think critically (that means with a lot of effort and time) about what makes us who we are. We need to consider the actions and words of others and they affect they have on people. We need to see the change people go through during a conversation, based on the words we use, and we need to think about how we are affected by the words and actions of others. We don't want to draw a parallel between everything that happens to others and what's going on in our own lives, but we do need to try to empathize with them, put yourself in their shoes...
